[CY PLAN 110] Introduction to City Planning
Instructor: Yanin Alexa Kramsky
TA: Xixi Jiang
Investigated the spatial inequality of the Bay Wheels bike-share system in Berkeley, identifying a specific “mobility gap” in low-income West Berkeley despite citywide expansion efforts. Utilized GIS kernel density analysis to overlay station distribution with Census income data, revealing that infrastructure heavily clusters around affluent corridors and the university campus. Proposed policy reforms to replace flat percentage quotas with quantitative siting standards based on transit gaps and grassroots community data to better address “last-mile” connectivity.
